Get fit in your local community in Catherine Park Estate

Springtime Fitness

The COVID-19 pandemic has seen a boom in home fitness equipment and services, and many Catherine Park Estate residents have also enjoyed exercising outdoors close to home.

Living in Catherine Park Estate means you don’t have to go far to find great, welcoming outdoor fitness facilities such as parklands, outdoor fitness equipment, walking and running tracks, and bike paths.

As we emerge from the pandemic, we’re hoping that our Catherine Park Estaters will continue to enjoy the benefits of exercising both in their comfortable family homes and within our local community.

Where to start?

So, where’s the best place to start? Here are a few pointers from the Catherine Park Estate team to help put you on the right track to enjoying the health and wellbeing benefits of exercising in your own community in Catherine Park Estate.

Set up your home gym

You don’t need much space or equipment to start exercising at home. In an ideal scenario, you’ll have a spare room in your spacious family home, but the reality is that room that was once spare may now be under the control of your little ones if you’re raising a family.

A lot of exercise equipment is compact and can be stored easily or folded away, so look for the right items to suit your needs. A basic set-up could include a mat, some hand weights, an exercise ball, and some resistance bands.

A great place to start can be to find an online fitness class and buy the equipment required. The pandemic saw a lot of personal trainers and gym operators pivot their businesses to offer online sessions. You might even find some Catherine Park Estaters who offer these types of services.

By signing up for online sessions you are more likely to keep your exercise program on track than if you just go it alone and put your own exercise routine together. Mix up your home-based exercise routine with some outdoor exercise within the local community of Catherine Park Estate.

Get active in Catherine Park Oval

Catherine Park Estate is a master-planned community designed with plenty of open grassy parklands and sports fields that are ideal for a range of exercise activities.

At Catherine Park Oval you’ll find outdoor gym equipment designed to promote greater cardio fitness, strength, and mobility and provide an enjoyable space to work out in. You might even make a new friend or meet up with your existing groups such as your mother’s groups or a bunch of neighbourhood friends.

The equipment is suitable for all fitness levels. Each piece of fitness equipment offers flexibility to cater to the various strength, fitness, and agility levels of the person using it.

The two outdoor multi-stations include a step-up station, leg press, push-up bars, chest press station, sit-up bench, and pull-down bench. Each includes easy to follow instructional signage to guide you through the correct techniques to achieve a rewarding and productive workout.

Catherine Park Oval is also a great place for children to play without having to worry about traffic, parking, or large crowds

Try walking, running or cycling

Many key design features make Catherine Park Estate a beautiful place to live, not least of which is the diverse range of parks and play areas. So there are plenty of places to run, walk or ride on pathways that meander through the calming natural setting. When you want to take a break, the parks feature established trees that provide plenty of shade for catching your breath and relaxing after an endorphin-producing workout.

Catherine Park Estate is surrounded by caringly maintained conservation land and streams. The South Creek Preservation Area is a central feature of our community, while nearby Harrington Forest is one of the largest private conservation areas in all of Sydney. The integration of many, many kilometres of pathways throughout both of these areas enables Catherine Park Estate residents to enjoy their natural surrounds, while also creating a safe environment for birds and other native wildlife to flourish.

Let the dogs out

The quiet streets of Catherine Park Estate are also great for walking or running. If you have a dog, your canine companion will be more than happy to join you – and provide you with an incentive to get out the door and get moving. Don’t forget to visit Paw Park, our modern off-leash dog play area featuring separate areas for canine companions and their owners to enjoy safely. Exercise has been proven to greatly increase the wellbeing of our four-legged friends.
